Shalom Makkabi

A warm, four-language website for a kosher restaurant in Frankfurt — with table bookings run from a Telegram bot and a menu that translates itself.

Shalom Makkabi homepage on desktop and the Hebrew version on mobile

Shalom Makkabi is a certified kosher restaurant, catering service and event venue in Frankfurt am Main. It welcomes guests who speak German, English, Russian and Hebrew — so the website had to work in all four languages, including right-to-left Hebrew, and make booking a table effortless.

The restaurant team needed just as much on the inside: a way to take, confirm and cancel reservations without sitting at a computer, keep guests informed automatically, and update a large menu with prices and allergen codes without paying for a translator every time a dish changes.

A four-language website and booking system for a certified kosher restaurant, catering and event venue in Frankfurt am Main.

Built with Next.js and a Node.js API: online table booking handled end-to-end by the restaurant team in a Telegram bot with automatic SMS to guests, and a menu cabinet where dishes are written once in German and translated by AI into English, Russian and Hebrew.

  1. 01

    A four-language site, RTL included

Next.js with next-intl in German, English, Russian and Hebrew, with full right-to-left layout for Hebrew, hreflang for every page, and the menu, events and contact pages built around the restaurant's own photography.

  2. 02

    Bookings run from Telegram

Every reservation from the site lands in the restaurant's Telegram chat with Confirm and Cancel buttons. The team handles the whole booking there, and the guest automatically receives an SMS in their own language when the table is confirmed or cancelled.

  3. 03

    A menu that translates itself

In the menu cabinet the team creates and edits categories and dishes, reorders them by drag and drop and exports a print-ready PDF. Dishes are written once in German; AI translates them into English, Russian and Hebrew using prompts tuned to kosher cuisine and the restaurant's tone.
